Study Program
The Foundation Program (FP) provides a systematic presentation of Buddhism and forms a perfect basis for a strong daily practice.
Classes will be held Sunday mornings, starting at 9am and finishing at 1.30pm, with a 30 minute break. The venue will be in Mile End, at the Thebarton Neighbourhood House.
To give people the opportunity to try out the classes, the first three Sundays of Foundation Programme (FP) will be free. There is no need to make a commitment or pay any money. You can attend whatever classes you can and then decide if it is something you wish to continue.
FP classes will start on Sunday March 14. The classes will continue on Sunday March 21, and 28. All three of these classes are free. After this if people wish to become enrolled students they can formally join the FP class. See FP times and dates for full dates of all the classes for 2010.
FP teacher Kelsang Dandul strongly encourages anyone with an interest to try the classes, even if they can't commit to attending most Sundays of the year. "At the moment people may have things planned for Sundays, but circumstances may change," Dandul said. "I'd reccomend people try one of the three free classes just so they know what FP is all about. Then if the opportunity arises in the future it's an option that's there for them."
You don't have to be a Buddhist to study FP. And if you do join you aren't expected to become one! All that is required is a committment to attend the classes and try to deeply engage with the book "Eight Steps to Happiness".
This book gives very clear and profound instructions on how to make our daily life the method for achieving a deep and stable happiness.
