What happens at a day retreat
Meditation day retreats give us a chance to explore Buddha’s teachings in depth, taking time to understand and reflect. By taking the time to contemplate and meditate in this way, the teachings come alive for us in a practical and direct way. The sessions are relaxed with the opportunity for questions and discussion.
Retreats start at 10am and finish at 4pm. There are four sessions. The first is a teaching. After a short break we have a chance to contemplate the teaching we have heard and meditate on it.
There is then an hour break for lunch (12.30-1.30pm). Feel free to bring a plate and join us for a shared meal, or it's a short stroll to the cafe up the road.
At 1.30pm we have the second teaching of the day, followed by a short break and another meditation session to finish the day.
These inspiring meditation day retreats are open to everyone. The day retreats are designed to explore one of Buddha's teachings and explain how they are relevant for us today, in our busy lives. The teachings are presented in such a way that they are easy to understand and practice in modern everyday life. We have the opportunity to hear profound teachings and then meditate on them so that the meaning can go deeply into our hearts.
Day courses are held at the Fullarton Centre. There are details on the day course pages, as well as details on how to book.
