Meditation In Adelaide

Meditation for everyone

Who we are

Buddha Shakyamuni

Meditation in Adelaide is a branch of Kadampa Meditation Centre Australia (KMCA), the home of the New Kadampa Tradition in Australia.

Our purpose in Adelaide is to give as many people as possible the opportunity to discover Buddhist teachings and to benefit from inner peace.

Everyone is welcome to attend the classes. It isn't neccesary to have meditated before or to have any experience of Buddhism. The classes are designed to give you suggestions on how to improve your quality of life, and how you implement those suggestions is up to you.

A Brief History of Meditation In Adelaide

  • 2007 - a number of people requested Gen Kelsang Rabten,  the NKT-IKBU National Spiritual Director for Australia and New Zealand, to teach some meditation classes in Adelaide.
  • Late 2008 - an overwhelming number of students requested more classes in Adelaide.
  • Early 2009 - a regular evening class started at the Fularton Park Centre.
  • Mid 2009 - further requests by students to have a teacher living in Adelaide in order to make the teachings more accessable.
  • September 2009 - Kelsang Dandul moved to Adelaide from Melbourne.
  • In 2010 - we now have four regular evening classes, regular day courses and an indepth study programme, the Foundation Programme.

The future

Ultimately we hope to create a Dharma Centre for Adelaide, a place where we could have classes, study programmes and chanted-prayers. Somewhere like-minded people could come together, share encouragement and advice and work to improve themselves.

Such a centre would be the focus for a community of Dharma practitioners. Some people will live at the centre, some outside and everyone will be a part of classes, helping to organise day courses and assist in the day to day work of running a Dharma Centre.

Please subscribe to our email-newsletter to be kept up-to-date on developments, and email us at with suggestions for classes or any other ideas you might have. If our vision for Adelaide is to appear it will be through ordinary people coming together as a community of spiritual practitioners. Everyone has something to offer, and everyone is welcome.
